Celebrities

I think it was two days ago when I met Sharon Stone's brother down here in Haiti.

yea yea I know it would have been way cooler to meet his sister, but I must say he was very nice and concerned with this issues going on here. I guess that's what matters in the end, right? He is working with his sister to fundraise money for a project - his job - to figure out the project....

P.S. Sean Penn and Danny Glover are here as well... Celebrities on deck!!!

Now let's just see what they get done...

Couchsurfing.com

Definition: couchsurfing: The best way to travel the world and meet new people... Its the S*%t!

Today I had the pleasure of communicating with several couch surfers here in Haiti. Some are volunteering, others are working as logistics experts, others are working for NGO's... a little bit of everything, but one thing is for sure, the passion for wanting to help is evident. "keep up the great work everybody!"

Yes, for those of you who don't know, I have been a faithful couchsurfer since 2007. Its a social website that allows you to connect with travelers from around the world... the fun part its so you can communicate with them and "surf" their couch. They welcome you into their homes, as you welcome them into your home... and you literally have the best travel experience of your life! (http://www.couchsurfing.com/)

This entry is just to give a shoutout to all my couchsurfers! Thank you for all the support you have shown for our fellow couchsurfers in Haiti! I have met up with some of them and they are still going through a rough time... keep them and Haiti in your prayers!

Keep checking out my blog! and please send me any photos or stories you have about couchsurfing! I would love to show them on my blog! elenablandina@gmail.com

Some snapshot of my rugrats!

MY RUGRATS

Here are a few snapshot of the kids at the orphanage I volunteer at in Leogane. From top to bottom we have, T-li-ay ... He is the ultimate sweetheart, loves hugs and kisses, and will make funny faces at you all day! He's one of the youngest in the group, but can hang with the big kids all day...

Next we have the superstar/tom boy of the group... Eliene! Yes, for those of you that know me, she is an exact replica of ME! (our names are even similar) She has the personality of an angle, but when shes mad- WATCH OUT! :) She likes to hug and kiss you, but when its time to play shes all over the place! Jimmy, one of the older children, is in the picture with her as well. He is truly gifted and has the ambition to learn... We call him the spounge! He soaks up everything - information and skills - with no problem. He is also my professor in Kreole! Amazing, the both of them!

Potential project with Ryan Leslie

I just got in contact with my friend Ryan Leslie. He blessed me with the opportunity to speak with him about a potential project I would like to include him in here in Haiti.

I'm currently volunteering at an orphanage in Leogane, Haiti. There are over 80 children here - all with dreams and hopes. Everynight I have the pleasure of hearing them all sing joyous songs during their prayers... The sound of thier voices asking god to bless their lives was remarkable!

I hope that I can work something out with Ryan and his team so that we can collaborate his talent with the childrens hopes of being heard!

Keep following for more updates on the project!!
